Coffee, bagels and cocktails! FIKA is a charming new cafe bistro based on the southern coast of Wales, in the idyllic district of Mumbles. Offering a relaxed environment to get your morning pick-me-up or an evening of merriment with their wide range of cocktails.
Gathering as much information from FIKA as I could and using all the photos, menus and existing brands I found through the research stage, I set out to create the logo with a style already in mind. We decided to go down the route of typographic/wordmark logos as the name ‘FIKA’ was something they wanted the focus to be on. Though, this didn’t mean we couldn’t decorate around it...
I wanted to incorporate a playful element providing a down to earth feel and after many developed and trashed ideas, I managed to get to the stage where the simplicity of the wordmark complimented the randomness of hand drawn illustrations. Bringing in the illustrations meant we could develop further on the playful feel of the identity.
